This opportunity is ideal for individuals with strong analytical ability and an interest in both finance and UK taxation, seeking to qualify as chartered tax or finance professionals while working directly with clients on real advisory projects.

The Role

As a Graduate Tax Consultant, you will support the delivery of tax compliance, audit support, and financial planning services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will be trained to analyse complex financial data, prepare tax computations and disclosures, and assist in designing strategies that minimise risk while ensuring full compliance with HMRC and financial reporting standards.

This is a client-facing role where accuracy, communication, and ethical judgement are essential. You will collaborate with senior consultants and managers on projects across corporate, personal, and international taxation, gaining insight into the financial systems that underpin the UK economy.

  • Tax Compliance Technology: training in accounting and tax software such as Sage, Xero, and Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE
  • Regulatory & Legal Awareness: understanding HMRC procedures, FCA compliance expectations, and data governance standards
  • Client Relationship Management: communication, professional ethics, and advisory presentation skills

By the end of the programme, you will be confident supporting client deliverables, drafting technical reports, and managing tax data within advisory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare corporation tax returns, financial statements, and supporting schedules for client reviews
  • Assist in the preparation of tax provisions for audit purposes and statutory reporting
  • Conduct research on HMRC legislation, double taxation treaties, and relevant case law
  • Support international tax planning and cross-border structuring projects under OECD guidelines
  • Analyse and reconcile financial data to ensure tax computations align with client records
  • Prepare advisory documentation for senior consultants and clients on tax strategy and risk management
  • Participate in client meetings and assist in drafting technical memoranda and correspondence with HMRC
  • Ensure all deliverables comply with professional, legal, and regulatory standards set by the ICAEW and HMRC
